Dr Catriona Fyffe is currently a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria, located in Klosterneuburg, just outside Vienna. She is investigating the impacts of changing glaciers and ecosystems on the functioning of catchments in the Peruvian Andes. Previously, she held postdoctoral positions at Northumbria University, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England in the PeruGROWS and TROPICCS projects, which explored glacier change and water resources in the Peruvian and Bolivian Andes, respectively. She has also spent several years as a Senior Lecturer at both Northumbria University and the University of Worcester, in Worcester, England, teaching subjects across physical geography and environmental science. She completed her PhD in the hydrology of debris-covered glaciers at the University of Dundee in Scotland.

Catriona is a glacier-hydrologist with a particular passion for tropical and debris-covered glaciers. She is particularly interested in the glacier surface energy balance, the role of glaciers in the catchment water balance, and the impact of debris in influencing glacier melt and hydrology. She has been involved in 15 publications, 5 as first author, which have gained over 300 citations. She has presented at numerous international conferences and is enthusiastic about developing international collaborations with glaciologists, hydrologists and ecologists globally, but especially across Europe, Asia and South America.
