La Caixa was created in 1990 by the merge of “Caja de Pensiones para la Vejez y de Ahorros de Cataluña y Baleares”, founded in 1904, and “Caja de Ahorros y Monte de Piedad de Barcelona”, ​​founded in 1844. "La Caixa" has focused its activities on family savings and old age insurance, when this type of social benefit did not yet exist in Spain.

Thus, from its origins, "La Caixa" has a strong social commitment through its financial activity, which finances and maintains activities of a social nature, educational, cultural and scientific.

In 2018, continuing its work to promote scientific activities, the Caixa Forum gathered SINAPSIS 2018, thanks to the support of Salon Peru association, for which we are very grateful.
